Windows problem

Asked by Sherry Jun 22, 2018 at 02:52 PM about the 1997 Ford Expedition 4 Dr XLT 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

All of my windows stopped rolling up and
down except the driver side window will
roll down. I checked the small fuse for the
windows in passenger compartment and
it is fine. I took out the main control switch
on the driver side and cleaned the
contacts, put it back together and it still
does the same thing. Do you think I just
need to replace the main switch on the
driver side door?

On the drivers side window switch control there is a lock button or switch that you can engage and it will stop operation of all windows except the drivers side window.

No, it's not the lock button. I'm blonde, but not that blonde. Lol! They all do nothing either way. The driver window will only roll down, not up and the other windows will do nothing. I tried the other door switches also and they won't work either way. Although I've read that one bad switch can make the others not work.
