97 expedition 4x4 pop and grind

When I put in all wheel drive or four hi or low it
pops and grinds when I push the gas what could
cause this never had this problem on any other 4x4

The front axles and locking hubs need to be looked at to determine the problem. There may be a problem with the engagement system to lock in the front wheels.

I'll look at that cause I just had new upper and lower control arms and all new bushings installed it may be that

So having all that done (upper & lower control arms) one would have noticed a problem in the front hub area, it would have to be torn apart to get the arms on. So there would be a problem with the system locking in the front wheels, that is if the axles and hubs were assembled back correctly, and were inspected for damage.
