4 wheel drive acting up in reverse?

Asked by Justin Nov 06, 2020 at 10:44 PM about the 1997 Ford Expedition 4 Dr XLT 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Put my 97 expedition xlt 5.4 with 4 wheel drive on
jack stands to run a test to find cause of a
vibration.  In doing so, I put it in 4L and slipped it
into reverse.   Rear driver side "clunk clunk clunk"
and stop and go at idle speed.  Doesnt do this in 2
wheel drive.   Any ideas?
