How will i know If my mass airflow censor is
not working properly in my 1988 oldsmobile
cutlass ciera???

Turn your car on and let it run for about a minute or two and then unplug the sensor while your car is running and if your car shuts off your sensor is good if your car continues to run you have a bad sensor.

Under normal circumstances, if the MAF develops a problem, the check engine/service engine light will come on, if it is on, pull the code first to be sure this is the problem. If the icon does not show on your cluster, then perform the above test. If it turns out to be the MAF, before buying a new part, clean the old one WELL using electric parts spray cleaner ONLY, and see if it works; I have done it a few times with good results.
