Getting this car started

Asked by Andrew Dec 03, 2017 at 12:34 PM about the 2003 Mitsubishi Galant ES

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a spare key that does not have the
transponder chip in it. I can not afford to have it
towed to dealership for a new key to be
programmed or afford the rip off prices they
charge for it. I need the car started. I don't care
even if I have to hotwire it. Just need the car
running

All you have then is a Valet key. It won't do you much good outside of unlocking the car, it won't allow you to drive it. If you could "hotwire" it, then the whole purpose of an anti-theft / transponder chipped keys would be moot, wouldn't it? As much as it sucks, you have to get a properly programmed chipped key, if not from a dealership then from a qualified automotive locksmith.
