Car is not working correctly after throttle body replacement.

Asked by Thomas Jun 07, 2018 at 06:01 PM about the 2004 Mitsubishi Galant ES

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My idle on the mitsubishi was about 1000 rpm and
after the change it jacked up to 2100 rpm. Also
when in drive the car shakes like crazy but goes
down to 1000 rpm. When driving i can only go up
to 20 mph and that is when i push the accelerator
all the way down. Lastly the accelerator does not
work when going in reverse. I tried resetting it by
letting it sit without battery power for 30 mins and
turning it on again. Please help

Check for vacuum leaks also clean mass air flow sensor with spray (you can buy this mass air flow cleaner from most auto part stores. Just a note you can damage your mass airflow sensor fairly easy so try not to touch it at all just spray it clean. Install a new air filter. Reset your computer by disconnecting your battery for 5 to 7 minutes. Negative terminal only. Connect battery negative terminal and start vehicle let idle for 5-6 min. The computer should go thru a series of reset configurations. Try any or all of suggestions see if this helps
