Mitsubishi Galant Fuel Issue

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was filling up my car at the gas station, and when the pump shut off
(unclicked the auto fill), I noticed a giant puddle of gasoline underneath my
car, that was seemingly dripping down the drivers side of the tank, and then
to the lowest point on the tank before falling on the ground.

I had a EVAP code thrown causing the service engine light to come on about
a month ago, but had neglected to fix this as I was told it could be as simple
as your gas cap not being on tight enough.

I pulled away from the pump in a hurry to a parking spot to check if it was still
gushing gasoline, and it had slowed to a trickle. I hopped in and drove to
work (about half a mile down the road) and didn't see any drips, but both my
coworker and I smelled gasoline. My car sat for about 5 hours while I was at
work, and I didn't see any puddle or anything underneath the car after work.

What could be wrong?

I'm not entirely sure, I plan to drop it off at a mechanic around noon tomorrow. Over the past few days I've smelled gas after walking outside in the morning (I park in my driveway). Could a hole in the filler tube possibly throw and EVAP or whatever code?

Alright I'm taking it in to have it checked tomorrow. By any chance would you have an estimate for how much I'm looking at to fix this, (even if it's an estimate from another brand of car etc)

If it is the filler tube I would say 1 hr labor plus part. So $250 on that and that is not investigating the evap leak unless you want to assume it is fixed with the filler tube.
