transmission solenoid replacement

Asked by Guru9F99SB Nov 15, 2022 at 07:34 PM about the 2001 Dodge RAM Van 3500 Maxi Extended Cargo RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

will i have to drop the whole valve body to replace the transmission and overdrive solenoids?

I thought I would only have to remove the oil pan and the two solenoids would be right there accessible and could be swapped out pretty quick. then i'd just have to pour more transmission oil in.

Is the fluid dark and stinky? If so save time and money and swap trans. Solenoid issues can sometimes be software issues in pcm so I would do some more diagnostic work before spending money, as times are tough and bidenomics are stomping everyones guts out
