Car stalls going down road. Sometimes won't start after getting warm.

Asked by Jpadgett16 Aug 29, 2016 at 06:56 PM about the 1995 Mercury Sable LS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Noticed after filling up with gas that car won't start. Then after starting and
driving a ways down road it will stall and take about 5 minutes to start. Doesn't
do this all the time but starting to happen more frequently

It is more than likely caused by filling up the tank and is caused by check and purge valves and related emissions gear in the car. First have the car checked for stored codes and after fixing, NEVER try to squeeze any more fuel into the tank or round up the price on the pump, because that is what usually causes the sensors to go bad.
