2019 Chev Equinox liftgate won't lock, only the doors

Asked by Guru9Q1DX9 Mar 03, 2022 at 04:53 PM about the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox 1.5T LT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We recently lost a key fob to our 2019 equinox.  We purchased a new one & had it programmed to the vehicle.  The doors lock, but not the lift gate.
Any ideas? Could it be in key fob program Or is it a lift gate part?

That Equinox liftgate lock system really isn't user-friendly. Use remote and lock doors, then walk away (20 feet) and the liftgate will lock automatically. As long as you're close to the car with proximity key on you, it won't lock. When you return and get close to the car, the liftgate will unlock automatically..... I guess this method sounded good to a Chevrolet designer, but they don't think like humans.

Who did you buy the new key from? A dealer? If so, I'd take it back, you paid for the service, it should be right. You can also have someone look at the issue. I am not there to look the vehicle over, sorry.
