Service engine soon and inspection

Own1999 mercury sable.  Inspected last year passed.  Since that inspection
service engine soon light on. Never got back to service station to have it
removed.  Went for inspection this year, mechanic said can't remove service
engine soon light. Can it be removed and go for inspection since it was on when I
picked it up last year at inspection?

No, can't be removed by just erasing it because the computer needs to scan all sensors and show that everything is ok. Take it to ur local auto parts store and have it scanned for codes, it's free. Post the codes after u get it scanned and we'll tell u what they mean
