Problem with rough idle

Asked by thegreatzoomer Aug 24, 2014 at 10:13 AM about the 2000 Mercury Sable LS Premium Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 Mercury Sable with a 3.0L DOHC V6 Duratec engine.  Sometimes at cold start up it run really rough and will cause the check engine light to come on.  I have taken it to a parts store and they hooked up the computer to the car and it states that there is a #3 misfire.  Can you please tell me which bank the #3 spark plug is located on.

I heard this was caused by problem with air idle bypass value. Also loud horn like noise when cold engine.

If your facing engine as your popping your hood or working on it then it’s the back right cylinder. Back row is 1,2,3 front is 4,5,6 and it fires in a 1-4,2-5,3-6 rear forward pattern
