There is no switch if that is what you are asking. The AWD system is computer controlled and only activates when wheel slippage is detected. If you are asking why the 4X4 light is on the dash, It usually is on when the ABS light is on, which indicates an issue with one of the wheel speed sensors.

There may have been a full time AWD option and if you have it there would be a button/switch indicating full time or part time AWD>
