Oil pressure

86 SQUARE BODY 4X4
Just changed oil pump the gauge was reading
before change but now its saying i have 0 oil
pressure just wondering if anybody has ever had
this problem.

What about the oil pressure sending unit? Is it one wire connector? If so, unplug the connector, key on, use a test lite and check for voltage, if nothing there, oil pressure gage isn't going to work. Whether the problem is wiring circuit-- gage--fuse somewhere, I don't know? If there is voltage, sometimes grounding that wire to engine block and the gage starts moving? If it reacts that way, then I think sending unit is faulty. The sending unit controls resistance to ground depending on the oil pressure. My wiring diagram for your model year isn't very good so I can't track the wiring circuit. What I posted is my opinion.
