From what I've read, everyone is aware of this problem, but nobody has taken responsibility for it. There are no recalls or TSBs for this. The fixes I've read are, head replacement, and cylinder resleeved due to ring scoring. And these have always been on the owner. This is a horrible engine design and you might just consider engine replacement. See a mechanic to price a used engine replacement, one that the mechanic can procure and check before hi buys it. I thing the cost to you should be around three grand.
