Can I use thicker engine oil in the winter in my 2018 Accord?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2018 Accord LX with the 1.5 Turbo engine.
I believe I have some gas/oil dilution. I haven’t
taken it to the dealer as I’ve realized they don’t
have people with the Civic and CRV with this issue.
It’s the same engine I’m just not sure why people
with the accord are not noticing the problem. With
the weather getting colder I noticed when I start the
car and the engine is cold it makes a weird noise I
can’t exactly explain it’s kind of a knock/rattle
noise. I want to know if there’s anything I can do
and maybe use a different oil or anything?!? I’m 18
in my first year of college and can’t afford for the
car too break . Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated!!

Make a recording of the sound, if you can. But, take it to the dealer either way and tell them exactly what is happening. It's always good to document a problem. You may also want to try different brand of gas, it made a big difference with my 2018 so.

My suggestion is a different English teacher at that college (one who can explain the proper use-case scenarios of the words ‘to, two, & too’). Additionally, consider that the source of your noise could be the fuel pump. I, too, was concerned about a noise emanating from my 2020 Accord 1.5T. I would describe my noise similarly to the way you described yours. I believe that my noise is the fuel pump and that this is normal and expected in a direct-injection car which needs very high fuel pressure.
