I want to remove the lower grille and replace it but am having difficulty finding out how to remove the old one. some same it can be done from the top opening and others say from down below but non say hows it being held on and what needs to be removed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you go at it from the top and there should be clips and held in with two screws that are holding it in place. If that doesn't work I'd swing by a mazda dealer and ask them really quickly how to remove it. You may also want to look at a Chilton manual to see how to do it.

I was working on one of these at work last week (an '04 sedan) and the lower grille simply clips into the bumper cover. You may be able to reach it from below, if there's a splash shield underneath, you may need to remove it. It may be a difficult reach and tight space from the top. When I did it, the bumper was off the car, as it had to be painted, it had hit a deer.

i hit a speed bump too fast and that took it right out wasent too hard really (gotta love the superglue repairs) long as the dealership dont find out
