98 expedition wont move while in gear

Asked by Guru5QXF Mar 27, 2017 at 10:37 AM about the 1998 Ford Expedition 4 Dr Eddie Bauer 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was at the light and my truck wouldn't move.
After I turned it off for acouple min then it went
into gear.  Tried it acouple time at the house. Goes
into gear when I turn it on but then if I put in park
and then drive again it won't catch. Just will review
when I push on the peddle. Do I need a new
transmission or would a transmission oil an filter
change possibly do it?

Probably due for a fluid and filter change, but check the fluid level first, sounds like it is low on transmission fluid.

I am having the same issue truck was going fine all of a sudden jumping out of gear.turned off a few minutes and it went fine but now want go at all and makes a grinding sound when it is put in gear
