2018 SantaFe Sport CV axel

Asked by Guru9FYFRF Nov 22, 2022 at 01:53 PM about the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4L FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I need to replace a CV axel on my 2018 Santa Fe Sport 2.4L FWD.  The
passenger side (right) CV axel shaft is long (over 36 inches) and the driver
side (left) is short (around 32 inches).  Every time I go wesite to order parts,
it has them reversed.  They show the left side as a long shaft anf the right
side as short.  How could they be so wrong?  Can I order what they call a
right side and use it for the left?  Is my car some kind of freak?

Your car is not a freak. Make sure you order the correct ones or use other websites. I looked the parts up and the shafts look to be different between the AWD model and FWD Santa Fe. Maybe that is the discrepancy? On rock auto the lengths seems to be spelled out correctly in the info.

Thank you for your replies but I'm sorry, that is wrong. I pulled the axel out and measured it. It is 26 and 3/4 inches long when compressed. The outboard spline is 1 and 3/16 inches in diameter with 30 teeth. The inboard spline is 1 and 3/32 inches in diameter with 27 teeth. None of the axels listed in Rock Auto are anything like that.
