Alarm

Asked by cast31726 Jul 24, 2016 at 10:16 PM about the 2005 Lincoln Aviator Luxury AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My daughter has a 2005 Lincoln avatar. I
had the battery replaced about two weeks
ago. Now every time she puts the alarm on
its go's off. A few days ago i replaced the
battery in the remote thinking it was that. No
luck every time she locks the suv. The alarm
starts going off. Do i have to reset the alarm
or is there something wrong with it.

Usually on newer cars when you replace the battery the computer drops information. Your key FOB has an ID which the computer recognized before the battery replacement. Now that the Battery has been replaced it most likely dropped the ID information for your key FOB. With that being said your cars computer thinks that some outside key ID is try to access it which most likely causes the alarm to go into panic mode. You should be able to reset this yourself or have a dealer match your key to the computer again. Hope this helps!
