Car Surged While Foot was on Brake

Asked by Patty Aug 08, 2019 at 04:00 AM about the 2018 GMC Terrain Denali AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Today while adjusting my Terrain in a parking spot, after I had shifted from
reverse to drive, the car surged forward really fast while my foot was still on
the brake, which scared the crap out of me. It jumped a curb and hit a fence
& shrubbery, which is what finally stopped the car. If it hadn't been for that
fence, I don't know what would have happened to me. I bought the car new
in May, and it only has a couple thousand miles on it. Has this happened to
anyone? This was really scary and dangerous.

It can happen if you have a leak in your master brake cylinder which will cause your brakes to feel spongy
