1999 Ford Taurus Wagon No Heat - Just Cold Air

Asked by stephsters8cats Apr 30, 2014 at 11:37 PM about the 1999 Ford Taurus SE Wagon

Question type: General

My father's 1999 Ford Taurus Wagon had a whole new heater core put in several months
ago.  Major bill.  All of a sudden it is not blowing any warm or hot air at all.  Just cold.  We
are trying to maintain this vehicle as my father had passed away 2 years ago, but this
heater situation seems to be awfully pricey.  What could other possibilities be for no hot
air?

There's a "Heater Door" that opens just so much to regulate the amount of heat that is blended with the outside air. If I'm not mistaken, it's vacuum controlled. It could be a bad vacuum hose or heater control modulator. I don't think it's a big job but check with the guy who did the heater core.

Make sure that the Cooling system is full - drive the car for 5-10 minutes - make sure that the top radiator hose is hot - feel of the two Heater Hoses running through the Firewall. Is one of them cold? If so, you have a plugged Heater core. You can usually flush it with a Garden hose. NOTE: I understand that this vehicle is special to you but it will eventually end up costing a lot to keep up.

heater work with enigine heat rejection. so you should indoor heat exchanger, then check hose and fluid in system and then check your fan.
