2003 kia spectra wont move but gears shift

the car will turn on and you can move theshift handle through gears but car wont move

assuming its a auto, and you feel some resistance (like shift cable intact) step 1, check fluid level, step 2, check fuses, step 3 scan the tranny module for fault codes. after that, more info needed.

you skipped step 2 :-p To scan you'll need, well, a scan tool. I assume you dont have one. Find a independant garage to scan your vehicle for fault codes and ask for the codes in writing. unless you purchase a scan tool, generic ones are cheap, but they will only scan the engine module. obdII readers i speak of. they (the shop) will most likely try to sell you a transmission rebuild or a replacement tranny. based on what codes, if any, this is a likely situation.
