ok dave have you checked the reverse light switch (attached to gearbox somewhere) . ive got the same problem had that checked recently when i had new clutch and ive replaced bulbs still no joy so im assuming its the fuse but i cant find it no mention of it in the manual.

assuming its an automatic transmission, its most likely the range switch on the transmission. is the check engine light on?
