Air, fuel, fire. Cranks but won't start

Asked by Cory Jan 06, 2021 at 03:32 AM about the 2005 Kia Sportage LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I have a 2005 kia sportage 2.0 l4 and I'm in need of
guidance. It cranks but won't start. It died while I was
driving. No misfire, no shaking. Nothing. Just died out of
nowhere and wouldn't start. I checked the fuel pump and it
works. I checked the plug wires and I have spark. I tried
spraying starting fluid in the throttle body and got nothing.
I checked the obd scanner for codes, but no codes. So I
know it's getting fuel, fire, and air. I'm not sure what my
next move should be. Compression test? Any help would
be appreciated!

Compression test only test strength of the piston for mixture reaction of the stoykiometric ratio that is present ( triangle). But it most likely wont start because of a faulty crank position sensor. It basically sees the flywheel and tell the computer to signal the ignition coil so the car can start)). Google it, and you'll see a picture of it on the side of the motor. Kia has a nice design on that. One of the rare things that is nice, I might add. happy trials
