2018 Audi Q5 Low Oil Question

Asked by olivertwistz Oct 04, 2021 at 12:58 AM about the 2018 Audi Q5 2.0 TFSI quattro Premium AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2018 Audi Q5 with about 72K miles (bought it at around 69K miles).
Based on the service settings, it says I will not need an oil change until 200
more days. However, based on the oil gauge/monitor, it looks to be on the
low side (not yet at the minimum but will get there soon). Should I get an oil
change now or should I add oil and wait until it is time for the next service
interval?

Thanks in advance!

I just look at the oil on the dip stick , if it's dark I change the oil . It's darker when you drain it than on the stick . From my experience synthetic oil gets dirtier faster . I do my own oil changes , I'm very particular about who works on my vehicles I hear too many bad stories .

If you have no history of oil changes from the previous owner, I would change it now. A good and consistent oil change interval would be 5000 miles although, with the advent of synthetic oil formulations, that can stretch to twice that in normal driving conditions. If that is not possible, at least add enough to move the gauge to the full mark for now.
