1993 jeep cherokee

When I start my car it sometime starts right away but also I
sometimes have to give it gas to start and when I start
driving it just dies and when I start it again it start right up
with no problem and when I drive it sometimes has a hard
time switching gears and when I slow down it dies on me
when I come to a stop. I have a 1993 jeep cherokee a
stright 6 cylinder 4.0lr if anyone what is wrong please tell
me thank you.

I would start by cleaning the throttle body, and the idle control module make sure it is cleaned thoroughly and make sure you only use throttle body cleaner.. If that doesn't work have someone put a fuel rail test on the Jeep.

So I cleaned it and it worked but now it still has a high RPM and stutter when I take off but when I drive it just has a high RPM and when Im at a stop light my car want to take off and makes it harder to break

You may need to replace the throttle position sensor shouldn't be more than $40
