4wd on 1995 jeep cherokee laredo

So I just bought a 95 jeep Cherokee Laredo.  I got
to looking at the 4 wheel drive levers and it is
marked 4 high then neutral in the middle then low
4wd. How do i know if it's back in 2wd? I put the
4wd lever in neutral and the regular shifter in drive
and I don't go anywhere! Thanks

They're usually marked 2H,4H,N,4L but thats for a full manual transfer case and wheel hubs. Do you have an electronic 4x4 button? You could get all 4 wheels on dirt or gravel and have someone watch as you get on the gas to see if only the rear are spinning or not
