My 1997 jeep laredo just turns off when I am driving, I lose all power and have to restart the car. What could cause this?

Could be a lot of things. A bad ignition switch, loose or corroded battery terminal, bad ground connection, bad alternator or connection, bad ignition module or pickup coil, etc.

It is most likely electrical, but could also be your fuel system. How is its driveability otherwise? You might be losing fuel pressure and need a new pump.
