Replaced Neg Terminal on 02 Jeep Liberty Now engine won't Crank

Asked by D Oct 03, 2020 at 08:06 PM about the 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The bolt on the stock neg terminal had fallen off, I bought a generic
aftermarket terminal from Auto Zone, replaced it, had to buy a separate
secondary ground to reach after cutting (the circuit has two wires grounding
off of the battery). I get lights, radio, acc but will not turn over. The main
ground is extremely hard to access otherwise I would have changed the
whole cable. Is there a reason this cable won't work with an aftemarket
terminal??

Any help is appreciated thank you for your time.

Thanks, yeah 10-4. The wire has plenty of contact and the connections are snug. I've done the reinstall several times and have even replaced the battery for good measure, still no crank.

I redid the the clamp with a different type of terminal, put on a thicker gauge ground cable, double checked connections, still won't turn over.
