Overheating and bad ignition coils

Asked by Jessica Feb 19, 2019 at 03:14 AM about the 2005 Jeep Liberty Rocky Mountain 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Jeep Liberty 05 has had overheating
problems lately, but the problems always
seem to be solved. Therefore the water
pump, ac compressor and motor fan are all
recently new . Now its overheating again, I
have to keep using water instead of
antifreeze because it eats it up. So now I
have no idea what it could be if everything is
basically new. To add to that, now I have bad
ignition coils that I have to replace, since that
became a problem, my car over heats like
crazy now. Also smells like burnt too.

I hate to say it but it sounds like it overheated and cracked and/or warped the head causing your coolant to be consumed in one or more of the combustion chambers.

Agreed with brotherben. Also anything unburnt may go into the catalytic converter(s) causing even worse smelling odors , and all sorts of issues and codes.
