2004 honda accord coupe making rattling noise

narrow this down a bit please. Where? Front left or right? Rear? In the cabin?? Plus how many miles on her now??

When I accelerate it starts to rattle when I hit about 30 mph until i put tiny pressure w my foot on the clutch then it stops until i take off again. Also my temperature gage keeps fluctuates while driving

237,000. this car is beautiful just trying to figure out what these two problems may be before I spend too much $ and have it be something else

Let's narrow some more. Are you talking about noise on the outside or inside? If inside, lube the pedal piston under the dash.

I bought a CorVette once. The seller said "This car is perfect except for one thing, see if you can identify it." I depressed the clutch to begin the test drive. Noise. I said "throwout bearing". He said "You got it". "It may never go beyond noise - then again - it may be a problem down the road" It never became a problem. (I sold the 'Vette for twice what I paid for it). The bearing is part of the system that pulls the driven disc away from the flywheel upon pedal depression. (Also reengages clutch/flywheel upon pedal upswing).

The bearing alone is probably around $80. Unfortunately, the labor will kill you. You have to remove the transmission. I doubt that's something you want to do alone, especially if it is your first time. To pay someone, labor could be $1,000. Normally if one invests that much in labor, they also replace the clutch and pressure plate at the same. They're sort of a package. The clutch and pressure plate will cost another $300-$400. In total, you should expect to pay $1,400 or more to have someone replace your clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing.

I'm sure that's not what you wanted to hear. On a positive, if you're just starting to hear the noise now, you may have time, like many months to a year. That may give you time to save money. Eventually the bearing will whine very loudly and even screech. (Terrible noise.) But by that time, you might not be able to shift gears anymore. If I may suggest, call your Honda dealership and ask them for a price to install a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing for your car. At a minimum it will give you a worst case scenario and a starting point. Good luck.
