Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi all,  i recently replaced the rear main oil seal, have driven it about 3500 miles, & has started to leak again. It does not leak when running, but when I shut it down it takes about 35 minutes to start leaking, It leaves about a 2" diameter puddle. Have repeated process several times with same results. Is there anything I can try or product I can use to stop leak short of replacing it again?

Thanks Tony

Hi thanks for the answers. When I replaced seal, I checked crank really well for scratches, etc. It was really clean, it had no groove. It does have 250k on it.

With that many miles on the engine I would check the oil daily and live with it. Invest in a drip pan.

I tried blue devil main bearing stop leak , have driven it 450 miles, & no more leak!!!!! I will see how long it lasts.
