My 1999 Ford Escort fan works but it will not come on when it gets hot what could cause this?

My car was getting hot so I pulled over and realized the fan was not coming on. I checked it with some jumoer wires it works fine. It just will not come on when it is plugged in like it is supposed to. All i see going to the fan is the plug and the relay is good.

OK, the relay is good, the motor is not burnt out, that leaves the temperature sensor sending unit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmWaroyUov0 ....click image
