Sure; they're two wagons of similar price, in a segment with very few other alternatives. I think many will cross-shop the two cars.

It all depends on the AWD system in the VW. I suspect that it is part time. Maybe Mark should research it and let us know.

While the Alltrack may be reactive AWD, it imagine that it will still be more than adequate for most people, puttering around suburbia.
