Why is the oil pressure Gage moving rapidly

Could be a bad sending unit. Does it bounce up and down or does it shoot up or down and stay there? If it shoots up and stays reading high you may have a clogged/restricted filter, restricted oil galley, if it reads normal then shoots down, you may have a failing oil pump.
