What's wrong with my car

My escort zx2 sounds and feels like I'm driving a go-cart it
does like slugs when I'm gaining speed it shakes when
I'm in park, and it automatically dies on me out of no
where sometimes! Even on the highway.  I'm thinking it's
my spark plugs, maybe? I've had my step dad drive the
car and say nothing's wrong it's just an old car

Is the check engine light lit? If so take it to a local auto parts store and get it scanned for free. Post the trouble codes here on the forum.

I haven't gotten a tune up in like 6 months. I honestly think I may need one. Also bob the check engine light is on I'll take it by auto zone so they can check it out for me.
