Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have done a compression test on the ford windstar 3.8 engine and found that the engine
seems to be running rouqh becuase cylinder one has 90 lbs , cylinder two has 80 lbs ,
cylinder five has 70 lbs and cylinders 3,4,and 6 have 120+ lbs to 130 lbs .
would you say some thing is keeping the valve partialy open and a good engine flush
might do the trick .

Try doing a wet compression check. Add a little bit of oil in the low cylinders and re do the check. If compression numbers come up to about where the others are then you have ring or cylinder wall issues. If the numbers remain the same then you probably have valve or head gasket issues. Does your oil look like a milkshake? Does your coolant have oil in it or smell like gas? Is there coolant on any of the spark plugs? If yes to either it's probably a bad head gasket.
