2000 Ford Tarus will not start.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 Tarus. It overheated on the interstate so I
pulled over immediately, popped the hood and sat there for
about an hour. It wouldnt start back. I checkes my dipstick
for water but there was no water and at this point the oil
was extremely hot. Is there a sensor or something on these
cars that will stop them from starting at too high of a
temperature?

Did coolant spray all over the engine bay? One or some of the electrical connectors could be wet not allowing the vehicle to start. Have it towed back to your house or garage so it can dry out and you can fix the reason it overheated.

Well it was steaming and I opened the radiator cap so I would say so. I thought maybe because the oil was so hot it wouldn't start. Im going back today to pop out the thermostat and see if it will start.
