What would cause my car to use water so quickly?

I was on my way back from an hour drive
when my car over heated. It only over
heated for a couple of minutes then went
back to normal.  I stopped at a store and
checked and it used all the coolant.  Since
then it's taking water like crazy. I can
literally drive like 10 miles and is almost
completely out of water. My car has not
over heated except for the one time. It also
makes a weird noise close to the water
pump, but no signs of a leak.  I drive a 2000
Ford Taurus.  Anyone know what might be
going on?

The best way to check your cooling system concern is to fill the system with water and pressurize the system. I would park the vehicle until you can get it repaired. You're likely to ruin an engine if you continue driving it in this condition.

its either your head gasket, water pump or your radiator, could have a hair line crack in it... I truly believe that the core problem to your water lose, is the( 1) water pump (2) head gasket
