Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1964 GTO when idling and I press the
gas the engine bogs down and stalls.
When cold is worse but still does when
warmed up. If I pump the peddle I can
keep it running.

Sounds like the carburetor is flooding out, or the fuel pump is bad. One other thing would be a plugged fuel filter. All you have to do to see if the carb. is flooding is start it up, warm it up as a little bit, turn it off and look down the carb. throat. You would see gas seeping threw and like steam coming up past the butterflies.

bad accelerator pump.

I suspect a bad accelerator pump. Time to rebuild the carb.
