2017 Ford Escape clunk

I purchased  A 2017 Ford escape all-
wheel-drive. Like many others have stated
it clunks in the back when backing up  
and/or immediately after backing up. The
dealer has not been able to duplicate but it
seems to be getting worse and hopefully
will be easier for them to duplicate.   When
it does it, the passengers in the car can
hear and feel it.  I hope something major
breaks before the cars out of warranty  so
Ford can figure out what the heck is wrong

Strange clunk in the back, that’s pretty much the same scenario as you described that is also happening to my 2008 Escape. If I were you I wouldn’t “hope” something major goes wrong with it but rather you keep bringing it back until they find that issue alone. Don’t let the dealer drag it out until it’s past warranty! Do it now! Don’t stop going back until it’s fixed! It is totally unacceptable for this to continue without resolving the problem.

Wondering if you ever had anything solved with this? My 2017 Ford Escape AWD is doing the same thing. Had it to the dealer for 10 appointments, a bunch of parts replaced and now they said it's a completely normal characteristic of this vehicle....finding it a bit strange.

Same problem with a 2017 Escape SE 2.0 AWD. Had it looked at by Ford dealership and they are replacing the Rear Differential Clutch. Appears to be a known problem with the AWD Escapes. Hope that helps
