Time to replace 2004 tires ?

Asked by CoolBeans Oct 19, 2017 at 02:55 PM about the 2000 Ford Ranger XLT Extended Cab Stepside 4WD SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought this 2000 Ford Ranger in 2006.  Had 73,729 miles at that time.  Today's ODO shows 77,666....(not a typo).

They look good.  DOT date is August of 2004.  Lots of tread, no wear showing, sidewalls look good and are not cracked.

Advice, please ?

It is way past time for new tires. I would not run them.

Bought 5 new as promised. They are LT245/75R16. Max load single, 3042@80 psi. Old tires were P245/75R16SL, door sticker said max 35 psi. Dealer put 35 psi in new tires. Seems low to me. Can I pump up to 50 psi for city driving... and up to 75 psi if/when I haul sand, rock, etc. ? Thanks

Went to mfr (Atturo) website and put in my Ford info and their tire. They said 37# in front and 38# in the back. Thanks to all for your replies
