G35 shut down

Asked by Adam Dec 27, 2015 at 06:09 PM about the 2005 INFINITI G35 Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My son's 2005 G35 just shut down after being parked last night.  Remote
does not work, key will not turn, lights/hazards, etc will not work, elec seats do
not move.  Battery was charged from my Tahoe and still nothing. He had dash
lights all come on prior to parking and some 'shuttering'.  Any help or
suggestions?  Thank you in advance.

First try removing battery terminals and clean then try jumping again. If vehicle does not take a jump right away leave cables on for about 30 seconds to a minute and rev vehicle up slightly that is jumping your vehicle than try starting your vehicle if that does not help check main fuses for a blown fuse.

Thanks - will try. Is it normal for everything to lock up like this?

No it's not normal anytime you have no power at all something is draining the battery if vehicle does start have alternator tested to make sure it is charging correctly or something is staying on like a light or there is a short some where in the electrical system.

that worked - it started but when it's off, there is a whirring sound behind the steering wheel, under the hood. It's like a belt missing and something is spinning? Thanks again!!

How old is your battery? They tend to only last 3 to 5 years before needing replacment.

we bought it used a year ago. do you know anything about the whirring sound directly behind the steering wheel under the hood?

As far as the sound goes, check your belt and tesioner also the altenator since it belongs to the cars charging system and is also driven by the belt.
