Radiator fans not functioning

Asked by 2005G35coupe May 23, 2018 at 02:49 PM about the 2005 INFINITI G35 Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The fuse for the radiator fans blew. I replaced it and it blew again. I'm told
water has gotten into the IPDM box and corroded the spot that controls the
fuses for the radiator fans. Is this common on the G35? Where might I buy a
replacement IPDM(other than Infinity dealer), and if replaced, how might I
prevent water from getting in again? I thought maybe I could just clean the
corrosion out, but mechanic said probably won't work still.
Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in
advance...Mike

Would inspect the weather stripping and replace if dried out or cracked. Water infiltration would be common if the seals are in bad shape, all depends. If you can get inside the box without some serious hassle I would try to clean it up. Small wire brush perhaps a small bit of baking soda then air hose it all off. Inspect/replace fuses as necessary. Simple continuity test on those. Car part finder might be a place to look for used if the cleaning route does not work. Enjoy!
