How do I get the driver's seat side airbag light on the dash to go out?

My driver's seat broke; it had a side airbag.  I replaced it with a used seat without a side
airbag.  Now the dash airbag light stays on.  I was thinking of cutting off the male side
airbag connector from the old seat and putting it into the female connector under the seat
to "fool" the system, or just disconnecting the light, since there is no airbag.

When I got the "new" seat at the junkyard, I didn't realize the existing seat had the airbag. I could remove the airbag from the old seat, but it could only be placed under the new seat, which I would be leery of. Could I splice in a resistor? The car is a 2000, and the new seat was from a 2001, so evidently the side airbag is not a mandatory safety feature.

Unfortunately this is what happens when you try to save some money sometimes. You should always be sure that the used replacement part is an EXACT duplicate of what you have. You might see if the parts place has the correct seat and will exchange it for you.
