2003 Hyundai Accent GL steering

my husband was a mechanic for many years. he recently fixed a problem i was having with the wheel bearing on my front axle.  now the car steering seems very very very loose to me... as loose as HIS chevy trailblazer... we had a big fight. he says he only disconnected the steering and reconnected it and did not adjust it... i can tell a big big big big difference in the steering. he says it's all in my head... what did he do?

Anytime you do work on your steering, It will need an alignment, as I have seen many times in the shop, a lot of people do steering work. then its a "loose" steering. 99% of the time a alignment solves this. There are many points in the steering and it is almost impossible to re-connect the exact way it is supossed to. I would recommend both take the car to a alignment shop and explain that there was a bit of steering work done, They should recommend an alignment and that is all, unless there are other issues with the car. As a side note, in the last 15+ years I have seen this arguement of spouses, I will need more than one hand to count how many has failed.

You have to do a bit more than take off the outer tie rod, those are pressed in bearings the whole knuckle has to be removed to get the bearing out usually.. It is possible that the bearing was so tight that it actually dragged when turning left or right. And Ditto on above post. Good luck!!
