Will ignition upgrade fix

Asked by Jeff Jan 18, 2023 at 01:35 PM about the 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 230

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My question is can I convert my key fob

ignition to a push to start? And will that

upgrade override and fix the fact that my fob

key currently will not turn the ignition?

Currently my fob key won’t turn the ignition

and steering locked had this problem before

after about 1 1/2 days fixed itself . Happening

now again seems to be a common issue with

Mercedes’ based on google and forums and I

wanted to know in its currently locked up

state, Can I just bypass everything by

installing a push 2 start ignition in to fix it and

avoid this from happening in the future?

Not unless you have the budget to do it right and upgrade the computer system also. It probably would be cheaper to have the whole ignition circuit repaired at a dealership then it would be to do this so called upgrade. Personally I hate the push to start system, just too many circuits to go bonkers.
