Rear Break Line

How common is it to have a small rear break line leak on a 55,000 mile C300 4matic and what would you expect to pay to repair?

A brake line (assuming it is metal) failure is not common or normal. Have your mechanic make sure that something else did not trigger it. Also, unless you are really in love with your local MB dealer - take it to a local mechanic who will be happy to fix it for a fraction of MB"s cost.
