Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi everyone! I have a 2004 Tiburon. My car is
currently being worked on. Mechanic states
replacing engine wiring harness with new one is
going to take 40-60 hrs of work and wanted to
charge 500$ anyone have any experience with
this? I don't want to be ripped off!

40 to 60 hours of work would be at least $2,000 even at a cheap shop. Why do you need a new wiring harness and why does he say it will take so long?

My car won't fire had same problem last year. Wiring harness was fried, got it re wired. Most of the ground wires are melted and burnt. According to the mechanic, he needed to lift up my motor loosen mounts, remove breaking system, remove my heating system in the dash all just to pull out the harness! Just received a call 5 mins ago the used harness I ordered is for a standard I've got an automatic :/
